US Auto Insurance Companies  

21st Century Insurance - is part of the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies. They have over 20 million individual policies in 50 states. 21st Century has over 10 million customers. They offers the following  insurance products: auto, home/renters, specialty home, flood, boat, motorcycle, antique auto, umbrella and life insurance. They provide their insurance through agents. 
 

Allstate - offers a wide variety of insurance products including: home, auto, business, vehicle,  life and disability. They also offer mutual funds and annuities. Allstate also offers a roadside assitance membership. AllState is traded on the NYSE under symbol ALL.

American Automobile Association (AAA) - is well known by its initials AAA. The american automobile association offers a number of services but is best known for its road side assistance. It also provides auto, home, business, travel, pet, dental and life insurance. It is an affiliation of regional auto clubs. There are a number of benefits for roadside assistance members including discounts at hotels and restaurants across the US, Canada and Internationally.

American Family Insurance - has been in business since 1927. They operate in 19 states mostly western and mid-western states. It provides auto, boats, motorcycles, RVs, ATVs, home/renters, condo, umbrella, health, life, business, farm and travel insurance.  They offer their services through agents. They also offer financial products including annuities. 

Amica - offers a wide variety of insurance products including: home/renters, auto, umbrella, life, health and disability insurance. They have 1.38 million policy holders and have been in business since 1907. They provide insurance policies across the United States.  

Auto Owners Insurance - has been in business since 1916 and is based in Lansing, Michigan. They offer auto, home, life and business insurance. They provide their services through agents and operate in 26 states, mostly in the mid-west and the south.  

Erie Insurance - offers the following insurance products:  home/renters, auto, umbrella, life and business insurance. They offer policies in the following states: Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, New York, North Carolina,  Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Washington DC.  Erie provides its serives through agents.

Esurance - is a subsidiary of Allstate Insurance. They offer direct to customer auto insurance in 36 states. They work with partner insurance companies to offer:  home/renters, condo, umbrella, health,  life and pet insurance.

Geico - they are well known for their quirky adds. is an insurance company that offers auto, vehicle, business, home, renters, condo, umbrella and life insurance. They have over 11 million auto insurance policy holders.  They are owned by holding company Berkshire Hathaway

Guide One -  is a specialty insurance company that targets churches, schools and senior citizens for its customers. They have a number of unique features of their policies that are specific to these markets. Guide One offers auto, home, life and personal excess liability insurance.    

Hanover Insurance Group - provides auto, home and vehicle insurance through insurance brokers. They also offer a number of business and specialty insurances. 

Infinity Auto - provides auto and roadside assistance insurance in 43 states. Infinity Auto is traded on the NASDAQ under symbol IPCC. This company has been in business for over 50 years and was started in Alabama.

Kemper - provides auto, boat, home/renters, life and health insurance. Kemper is headquartered out of Illinois and sells insurance in 43 states and has over 6 million policy holders. Kemper is a public company and is traded on the NYSE stock exchange under symbol KMPR.  

Liberty Mutual - this company offers a wide range of insurance products including life, home and auto.  

MetLife - is a fortune 500 multi-national company that offers a variety of insurance types including: life, disability, health, auto, home and credit. They offer their products in 50 countries around the world. They are traded on the NYSE under symbol MET.

Nationwide -Nationwide is a large insurance company based in Columbus, Ohio. They offer a wide variety of insurance products including: auto, homeowners/renters, life, property, travel, farm, business, pet and personal umbrella insurance. They also offer mutual funds and annuities as financial services.

Pemco Insurance - is an insurance company that offers auto, home and boat insurance in the north-west in Washington and Oregon.  

Progressive - is an insurance company that was founded in 1937. Progressive provides: auto, vehicle, homeowners and renters insurance through insurance brokers.  

Safeco Insurance - is a member of the Liberty Mutual company. They offer a wide variety of insurance products including: auto, vehicle, home/renters, condo, RV, boat and umbrella insurance. They are a national  insurance company and offer their services through agents. They have their name on the baseball stadium for the Seattle Mariners.  

Selective - operates in the north-east and mid-west of the country. They offer a wide variety of insurance products including: auto, home/renters, umbrella, flood and business insurance.  


Sentry Insurance - has been in business since 1904. They have over 1.1 million policy holders. Sentry Insurance provides auto and home insurance in ohio, indiana, illinois, wisconsin, minnesota,iowa, missouri, tennessee, kansas, colorado and arizona. 


Statefarm - is a large multi-national insurance company that operates in the US and Canada. They offer life insurance also offers home, auto, business and personal insurance. In addition to this they also offer financial products such as mutual funds.  

The Hartford - is a large insurance company that provides auto, home and business insurance through agents. The Hartford also offers mutual funds (to institutions) and group benefits. The Hartford has in business for 200+ years and is traded on the NYSE under symbol HIG.


United States Automobile Association (USAA) - is an insurance company that serves current military, retired military and their descendants. They offer many types of insurance including life, auto, and home. They use an internet model for insurance policies. They also offer banking services, credit cards. mutual funds and annuities. 

Wawanesa Insurance -provides auto and residential insurance to residents of California and Oregon only.
