Canadian Regulatory and Stock Exchange Websites

Bank of Canada - Bank of Canada. The central bank for Canada. They are responsible for monetary policy, currency and the financial system in Canada. There are many economic papers that are available to investors with mostly macro economic topics. 

Canada Revenue Agency - Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). They collect income tax as well as administer the GST and numerous other programs for the government such as Child Tax Benefit and Goods and Services Rebates. 

SEDAR - is the official site for public securities documents and information from public companies and investment funds in Canada.  There is a wealth of information here about regulatory filings by companies listed on Canadian stock exchanges.

Montreal Option Exchange - Montreal options exchange. This is the exchange where options trading is done in Canada. 

Ombudsman for Banking and Services and Investments - Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments. Not a regulator, but this organization will assist in resolving disputes between participating investment firms and their customers. 

Ontario Securities Commission - Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is responsible for regulations and oversight of companies listed in Ontario, including the main stock exchange in Canada, the Toronto Stock Exchange. 

Department of Finance - the department of finance Canada. This is the federal government department that is responsible for the federal budget and general finance issues affecting the federal government of Canada. The department of finance is responsible for tax law and legislation governing banks and other federal financial institutions. They are responsible for the Real Estate regulations in Canada. 

Office of Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada - Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada is a federal government agency. The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada (OSFI) is the primary regulator and supervisor of federally regulated deposit-taking institutions, insurance companies, and federally regulated private pension plans.

Ombudsman Canadian Taxation  - the Ombudsman for oversight of the Canada Revenue Agency. If you have a disagreement with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) then this organization may be able to assist in resolving disputes.

Toronto Stock Exchange - Toronto Stock Exchange. The main stock exchange in Canada. 

Statistics Canada - the website for Statistics Canada. The federal government department responsible for all kinds of economic statistics. Economic reports can be found on this website. 

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation - Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation - this is a federal government agency that insures the majority of high ratio mortgages in Canada. 

Industry Canada - the website for the federal government department Industry Canada. They provide industry analysis on data from a number of economic indicators.  

Citizenship and Immigration Canada - this is the Canadian Government department responsible for immigration to Canada. Information on immigrating to Canada as well as temporary visas can be found on this website.
